Turda Salt Mine

Turda Salt Mine came to the attention of the enthusiast community a few years back. It was the talk of the town for a while, but eventually became a distant memory as time passed by. Personally, I was mesmerised by the whole concept and the beauty of it the very first time I saw an article. At that point, I made up my mind that whenever I travelled to Romania I had to visit this place. The mine is located at the northernmost point that we would reach on this trip.

Once inside, you walk down some stairs to enter a very long tunnel. There are many turnings that lead to various parts of the mine. The most interesting ones for us were turning eight and nine. These led you to the entrance of the amusement park. Yes, the amusement park. To reach it, you have to use the lift or go down thirteen flights of stairs.

Below are various games and amusements. Some of the attractions include a Big Wheel, crazy golf, table tennis, tenpin bowling, a boating lake and a stage show. It would have been nice to explore other parts of the mine but we were pushed for time.
